Candles

FAQ - Candles

What do you use to make your candles?

Our candles are made with all-natural Coconut Apricot Wax, a non-toxic cotton core wick and reusable packaging. They are vegan, non-toxic, and provide you with a cleaner burn. Each candle is paraben free, phthalate free and preservative free.

Why Coconut Wax?

  • Coconut wax is extremely clean burning in fact; it burns up to 90% cleaner than a 100% soy wax candle of the same size and fragrance.

  • Coconut wax holds a higher volume of fragrance than other natural waxes and doesn’t interfere with the true notes of a fragrance.

  • Beautiful creamy white look and texture. Skin-safe!

  • Ecologically sound and sustainable!

How strong will my candle be?

I use the maximum fragrance load in each candle. Cure times for each candle vary, but on average it takes a week of curing before the candle can fill a large room with scent. If the candle scent seems weak at first, it is because it was recently made.

Why don't you use essential oils?

Essential oils don't perform great in coconut-apricot & soy wax leaving the candle with a very inconsistent scent throw. More importantly, most essential oils are not candle-grade, meaning they are not meant to be heated to high temperatures (some will become toxic when heated). Some essential oils are not approved for use when you are pregnant, have small children or pets. I chose to use high-quality fragrance oils that are regulated for safety by the IFRA (The International Fragrance Association).

How long will my candle burn?

This depends on the size of your candle. Please check the product description for the burn time of each candle size.  Make sure to burn your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface away from drafts and flammable materials. Do not burn the candle inside of the set containers! When it's burning, keep your candle in sight, away from children and pets. Always stay safe love.

Why are there spots on my candle jar?

As the temperature changes from warm to cold and back again, you might start to notice spots on your candle glass. These are known as wet spots and are caused when the wax cools and separates from the glass. Not to worry, this is totally normal and will go away when your candle is lit and the wax warms up.

Why does my candle look wet on top?

Candle sweating is one way to tell your candle is made with no additives. It is common to occur with warm weather but once cooled down well return to normal. Sweating in no way effects the quality or burn of your candle.

Will my candle melt in transit?

With warm weather comes the chance for candles to melt in transit. Please consider shipping to a PO Box or an address in which you will be able to remove your order from the mailbox immediately. Due to the nature of the coconut-apricot wax, I will pack carefully to try to prevent melting. Please contact me if there are any melting issues that may require assistance.

We designed our candle sets so that you’ll want to reuse them for whatever you’d like. Wash out the candle remains with soap and water. Ta da! You’ve got a new clear container that can be used for anything! We are planning to move towards more even sustainable and eco-friendly packaging in the future.

What safety tips should I know before using a candle?

  • Place your candle on a non-flammable, level surface with no drafts or vibrations or near anything that can catch fire and at least 3 in. from other candles

  • Trim the wick to 1/4  in. before lighting each time. If the flame is too high, flickers or smokes, stop burning the candle as the wick is too long. Wait until the candle has cooled fully then trim the wick

  • Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets

  • Remove any objects and debris from the wax

  • Never leave a lit candle unattended and don’t fall asleep with it still burning

  • To avoid tunneling ensure the melt pool covers the surface

  • Don’t burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time

  • Stop burning your candle when there is approximately 1/2 in. of wax left

  • Please read the safety label on the base of your candle before use and keep it there for future reference

Wax Melts

FAQ - Wax Melts

What do you use to make your wax melts?

Our wax melts are created using the finest eco soy wax, vegan and cruelty-free fragrance oil. Soy wax is a great choice for wax melt making! It is a renewable resource and biodegradable. My wax comes from U.S. non-GMO soy beans. Soy wax is "clean burning," meaning it does not burn off toxins, carcinogens or pollutants. Soy wax burns cooler meaning the wax melt lasts longer than paraffin wax. Each wax melt is paraben free, phthalate free and preservative free.

How do I use them?

Our wax melts are perfect for tea light burners, as well as electric burners. We do, however, advise against oil burners as they tend to overheat the wax.

Simply snap off as many segments as your burner requires (we recommend adding one at a time to prevent overfilling) and enjoy the aromas! For the Honeycomb wax melts use 1 at a time.

How long do they burn for?

This depends on your wax burner and how many segments you choose to burn at any one time. They tend to last longer in electric burners vs. tea light burners due to the temperature differences.

Our scents consist of high, mid and base notes. Scents that are full of high notes will lose their fragrance quicker than those that mainly consist of low notes. Most of our melts contain a combination of all 3, so you'll find that the scent changes and introduces different fragrances as it burns.

Why does my wax melts look wet/frosty on top?

Wax frosting and sweating is one way to tell your wax melts are made of 100% soy wax with no additives. Frosting and sweating in no way effects the quality or burn of your melts.

How do I clean the wax out of my burner?

There are many ways of doing this, but we swear by Mrs Hinch's method!

Simply pop in a tea light/turn on your burner, wait 15 seconds or so (till the wax just starts to heat) and press gently on the edge of the wax to pop it out. Using a cotton pad also works really well!

How do I store them?

Our wax melts are perfectly packaged for storage but we do recommend keeping them in a cool place. If properly stored, they can retain their scent for up to 12 months.

Botanical Bath Soaks

FAQ - Bath Salts

How do I use floral bath salts?

  • Depending on the size of your tub, use about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of this salt blend per bath.

  • You can add the bath salts directly to the bathtub if you like.  It is beautiful to see all of the flowers floating on top of the water.  However, you’ll want to gather up all the flowers and discard them before draining the bathwater.  You don’t want to risk the flowers clogging your drain.

  • Alternatively, you can put the floral bath salts in a cotton muslin bag (like this) and then hang the muslin bag from the water spout so that the hot water hits the bag as it fills the tub.  The salts, essential oils and flowers will dissolve and impart their therapeutic properties to the water.  After the tub fills, you can also add the bag to the tub water.  (note: the bags are reusable.  simply launder the bags in between uses.)

  • When you’re done with your bath, be careful getting out of the tub.  The essential oils can make the tub a bit slippery.

  • Pat your skin dry with a soft, absorbent towel  (don’t rub)

Can also be used to make a foot soak, or placed in the shower to create a aroma filled steam shower.
